Victorian Terraced House
Victorian houses often have a similar layout with rather narrow entrance corridor, a bay window in the reception room and a kitchen leading to the back garden but owners of this property wanted something slightly different within a set budget.
As a result, partition walls were removed to open up the space as much as possible, letting through natural light. Initially carpeted floor was stripped down to original oak floorboards, which were sanded and varnished, making the house appear large and airy.
Cork tiles cover a long wall leading to the upper level to emphasise the idea of open space and harmoniously link the decor throughout. On the opposite wall, shelving runs lengthwise almost over the full depth of the house creating an ideal display for books and decorative objects. Finally, a minimalist bespoke built in unit provides additional storage in the dining area.
